Which types of magic mushrooms will grow on this substrate mix, and which will not?
Your sterile substrate mix of coconut fibre and vermiculite is ideal for various types of mushrooms. This mix works excellently for Psilocybe cubensis varieties, which thrive on this substrate due to its optimal humidity and air permeability. The neutral pH level and good moisture retention make it a perfect environment for cubensis species.
Keep in mind that some mushrooms are less suited to this substrate. Wood-loving species such as Psilocybe azurescens and Psilocybe cyanescens do not grow optimally on this coconut fibre/vermiculite mix, as these species require a substrate of wood (such as beech or oak).
Instructions for use
- Preparation: Carefully open the bag in a clean environment.
- Inoculation: Add your colonised grain spawn to the substrate.
- Mixing: Mix the spawn evenly through the substrate.
- Incubation: Close the bag and allow the mycelium to colonise the substrate.
- Fruiting: Once fully colonised, create the right conditions for mushroom growth
Storage instructions
Store the unopened sterile bags at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. No refrigeration necessary. The bags can be stored for several months before use.
